TOUR 1: BRISBANE CITY HERITAGE AND SUBURBS OF ASCOT/HAMILTON
13:30 FRIDAY 6 JULY 2001
4 HOURS DURATION (INCLUDING TEA/COFFEE STOP)
Discover Brisbane's outstanding heritage highlights and buildings.
After collection from CBD hotels, we commence with Parliament House,
the grand Victorian era Conrad Hotel and Treasury Casino, and then
on to the oldest building in Brisbane. Winding our way through the
city, we will visit St John's Cathedral-the only Gothic style building
in the world under construction-before heading out of the city through
the inner suburbs on our way to spectacular "Queenslander" homes
in Ascot and Hamilton. We will pause for coffee at Racecourse Road
before heading back via the grand old Newstead House. Price per
person incl. tea/coffee/cake: AUD 55.50 incl. GST.
TOUR 2: BRISBANE VIEWS, QUEENSLANDERS AND KOALAS
13:30 THURSDAY 5 JULY 2001
4 HOURS DURATION (INCLUDING TEA/COFFEE STOP)
After collection from CBD hotels, we head for the hills- the hills
of Brisbane. The suburbs of Paddington, Red Hill, and Bardon show
off the classic style of our unique "Queenslander" homes; learn
why they evolved in this manner. After passing Government house,
we head for Lone Pine, the largest Koala sanctuary in the world.
Have your photo taken cuddling a koala (optional, own expense);
feed kangaroos, wallabies, and emu; and talk to one of the many
talking parrots that make Lone Pine one of Brisbane's best-loved
attractions. We then head for the highest and best view point in
Brisbane- Mt Coot-tha, where we pause for coffee before heading
back down the hill to the hotel. Price per person incl. tea/coffee/cake
and entry to Lone Pine: AUD 70.00 incl. GST.
TOUR 3: SUNSHINE COAST AND BLACKALL RANGE
9:00 TUESDAY 3 JULY 2001
8 HOURS DURATION
After collection from CBD hotels, we head for the spectacular white
beaches of the Sunshine Coast. Less busy than the Gold Coast, Brisbane's
northern beaches offer secluded bays and rugged headlands, calm
water fishing and sailing, and a relaxed atmosphere. We commence
our drive along the 45-kilometer stretch at Caloundra, where shipping
on its way to Brisbane passes within 1 kilometer of the beach. We
will take a stop for coffee at Mooloolaba before heading to the
stunning Noosa heads. Here we will take a short walk through the
famous Noosa National Park and see Australian wildlife, including
koalas, in the wild. After lunch at one of the nicest restaurants
on the famous Hastings Street (Cafe Le Monde), we head for the quaint
country town of Eumundi on our way to the top of the Blackall Range.
Here we pass through gorgeous mountain villages and stop for some
shopping at the famous Montville. At the southern end of the range,
we pause to take a walk through an ancient rain forest, touching
trees thousands of years old, and then admire the spectacular beauty
of the Glass House mountains (catching a glimpse of Brisbane way
off in the distance) before taking the scenic route back to the
hotel. Price per person (no food or beverages included apart from
a bottle of mineral water per person on board): AUD 95.00 incl.
GST.
